Welcome to Prescribing with Care

Updated: Feb 26

My name is Dr. Jeff Benzick, and I am your San Antonio Adult ADHD Doctor!

Thank you, sincerely, for your interest in my practice.

I am in my twenty-fourth year in practice, and, as you can see, I finally got a better website!  I still really do love my job, and I hope that it shows in our interactions.  I want your experience at the office to be the best you've ever had with your doctor.  My care philosophy is built on the idea that psychiatric medications are to be used thoughtfully, if at all. I won't tolerate my patients feeling "like a zombie" after taking medication--this is very unpleasant for you, as you are already struggling with the circumstances of life. Let's focus on returning to your definition of wellness rather than labeling you as "sick."

It's very exciting to read articles on how exercise, a proper diet, meditation/spirituality, and even some supplements can help you reduce the need for medication, so I encourage folks to incorporate these into their treatment regimen. Be a participant in your care, not a patient!

Please see below for conditions I am currently treating. Yes, I am open to new cases, but, please understand that due to an overwhelming number of folks calling, I am accepting fewer patients than before, and I am not treating all diagnoses. As I enter the next season of my practice, I thought a lot about who I am uniquely suited to helping. While I have seen people with all sorts of diagnoses in the past, there is something very special about working with teens and adults with ADHD. I get so excited to watch the transformation of their lives when we find that right combination of interventions, and I am really focusing on making an impact in those lives.

I like to think I have a reasonable sense of humor, although my family hotly debates that point. Whatever is affecting you is obviously a serious matter, or you wouldn't be looking at this website.  I do find, though, that a well-timed, compassionate smile makes for a better treatment relationship.

Have you been struggling with ADHD? If so, give me a call. I can help.
